for which he was granted a patent, 385 acres, known as Totero Fort and located on both sides of Three Creeks,
    • The Totero Fort plantation was named for a fortified village of the Totero Indians. Three Creeks starts on the western edge of present day Greensville County, northwest of Emporia, and runs southeast. Based on county boundry changes, with Brunswick County being formed from southern Surry County in 1723, and Greensville County being formed from eastern Brunswick County in 1781, which was originally Surry County, it is thought that the present day location of Totero Fort is somewhere in Greensville County on the southwest side of Three Creeks where a small branch flows into Three Creeks, between Three Creeks' beginning and where it flows into Southhampton County.

brought by William "Essex" and Rebecca (BOBBY) WINSTON against John and Sarah (WINSTON) (SYME) HENRY,
    • Role: Deceased Participant
The purpose of this lawsuit was to recover property from the HENRYs that was inherited by Rebecca and her sister, Elizabeth, from their Grandfather, John GEDDES Jr., based on his Will of 18 May 1719 in James City County. The Will stated his wife, Margaret (DANSIE) GEDDES, was to have use of, during her life, his plantations at Totero Fort and Sandy Point and the household goods, cattle and slaves at thoses plantations. After her death, his estate was to be split up between his daughter, Elizabeth (GEDDES) BOBBY and her children. Elizabeth had two sons who died before her in 1722 and 1727.

GEDDES' wife Margaret remarried with John SYME I in 1725, who took control of her inherited estate

John SYME I and Margaret (nee DANSIE) his wife, executor of John GEDDES Jr.'s Will, Margaret's first husband, vs Edloe MORELOCK & Elizabeth (nee FREEMAN) his wife, adminstratrix of John Jacob Coignan DANSIE's Will, Elizabeth's first husband,
    • Elizabeth FREEMAN first married John Jacob Coignan DANSIE between 1700-1707, and secondly married Edloe MORELOCK. The records of General Court were destroyed, and this information is based on surviving notations of pending cases in 1723. Therefore, the substance of the case is unknown. But since Margaret SYME's maiden surname, DANSIE, is the same as the first husband of Elizabeth MORELOCK, it can be assumed that they were related, and the issue was probably concerning distribution of estates from one or more Wills.
