  • Notes  Married:
    • William, age 18, and Mildred, age 16, were married by the Reverend John Durbarrow BLAIR. Reverend BLAIR was a prominent Presbyterian preacher at the historic Pole Green Church in Hanover County, Virginia. BLAIR's wife, Mary Geddes WINSTON, was a first cousin of William.

They were married for 43 years and had 13 children. Seven of the children lived past 21 years of age, giving them a total of 38 grandchildren.

Their framed portraits, painted in Louisville, KY, circa 1840, were donated to The Filson Historical Society, Louisville, KY, on 20 May 2015 by William Winston COCHRANE IV. [2, 9]

    Residence:
    • They resided in the following locations:
      - 1798-1806 in Newcastle, Hanover County, VA. Newcastle was in a state of decline as early as 1797.
      - 1806-1811 in Warminster, Amherst County, Va. Warminster has been in Nelson County since it the county was created in 1807.
      - 1811-____ in Lexington, Fayette County, KY (in 1832 - daughter Catherine's marriage announcement)
      - ____-____ in Paris, Bourbon County, KY
      - ____-____ in Marion/Moxley, Owen County, KY (located on the east bank of the Kentucky River)
      - 1829-1835 in Boone County, KY
      - 1833-1843 in Louisville, Jefferson County, KY (Sixth St. between Green and Walnut in 1843)
      - Three winters in New Orleans, LA (winter of 1829-1830)
    • This location in 2015 is now in the middle of runway 18L/36R at the Greater Cincinnati Airport. He was on the county tax list in 1829 and 1831, and was located here on the 1830 census. There are county deeds, not for this land, but for personal property, recorded in 1830 that state he was living there on land purchased by his son, John O. Cochran. But based on county deeds, his son did not buy the land until 1833, and he sold it in 1835. Possibly he was renting and paying taxes on the land from 1829 until it was purchased in 1833.
