Notes:
1798 - The Mississippi Territory was established by the USA, which included the southern portions of present day Mississippi and Alabama.
1802 - Wilkinson County was formed from a portion of Adams County in the Mississippi Territory, USA.
1804 - The Mississippi Territory was trippled by expansion northward to the southern Tennessee border.
1809 - Amite County formed from a portion of Wilkinson County, and Franklin County formed from portions of Wilkinson County, Adams County, Amite County and unincorporated land.
1812 - The Mississippi Territory annexed land to the Gulf Coast.
1817 - On 3 March, the Alabama Territory was established from the eastern half of the Mississippi Territory.
1817 - On 10 December, Mississippi became the 20th state in the United States of America.
1846 - Wilkinson County received land from Adams County.
1882 - Adams County received land from Wilkinson County.
1884 - Wilkinson County received land from Adams County, creating Wilkinson County's present day boundries.
