Notes:
1798 - The city of Warsaw, on the Ohio River, began as a landing called Great Landing.

1799 - Gallatin County was formed from portions of Franklin County and Shelby County, in Kentucky, USA.

1814 - Great Landing was renamed Fredericksburg.

1819 - Owen County formed from portions of Gallatin County, Franklin County, Pendleton County and Scott County.

1820 - Boone County received land from Gallatin County.

1821 - Owen County received land from Gallatin County.

1828 - Owen County received land from Gallatin County.

1831 - The town of Fredericksburg was renamed Warsaw.

1837 - The city of Warsaw became the county seat of Gallatin County, when it was moved from Port William (now Carrolton).

1837 - Trimble County formed from portions of Gallatin County, Henry County and Oldham County. Gallatin County received land from Boone County.

1838 - Carroll County formed from portions of Gallatin County, Henry County and Trimble County.

1867 - Gallatin County received land from Grant County.

1868 - Grant County received land from Gallatin County.

1872 - Carroll County received land from Gallatin County, creating Gallatin County's present day boundries.
