1810 - The city of San Bernardino was formed in Alta California, New Spain.

1821 - Mexico gained its independence from Spain, and Alta California became a territory of Mexico.

1848 - At the end of the Mexican-American War, the United States acquired northern Mexico, including present day California.

1850 - On 9 September, California became the 31st state in the United States of America.

1853 - San Bernardino County was formed from a portion of Los Angeles County. The City of San Bernardino became the county seat for San Bernardino County.
