1716 - Spain began establishing missions in eastern Texas, and established San Antonio in 1718.

1821 - Mexico gained control of Texas in their war of independence from Spain.

1836 - The independent Republic of Texas was created after it's war for independence from Mexico. Bexar County is one of the original counties in Texas.

1845 - On 29 December, Texas became the 28th state in the United States of America.
