1807 - Rhea County was formed from a portion of Roane County, Tennessee, USA.
1809 - Rhea County received land from Roane County.
1815 - Rhea County received land from Blount County.
1817 - Rhea County received land from Roane County.
1818 - Rhea County received land from Roane County.
1819 - McMinn County was formed from portions of Rhea County and Roane County, and Hamilton County was formed from portions of Rhea County and a non-county area. Also, Rhea County received land from Roane County.
1821 - Bledsoe County and Hamilton County both received land from Rhea County.
1833 - Rhea County received land from Hamilton County, and Rhea County and McMinn County exchanged land.
1836 - Meigs County was formed from a portion of Rhea County.
1855 - Cumberland County was formed from portions of Rhea County, Bledsoe County, Morgan County, Roane County, Fentress County and Putnam County.
1856 - Cumberland County received land from Rhea County, Morgan County and Roane County, creating Rhea County's present day boundries.
