Notes:
1843 - Oregon Country was formed as an independent provisional government.

1845 - Portland was founded in Clackamas County, Orgeon Country.

1846 - The United States gained control of the Oregon Territory.

1854 - Multnomah County was formed from portions of Washington County and Clackamas County, and Portland became the county seat for Multnomah County.

1859 - On 14 February, Oregon became the 33rd state in the United States of America, and the remainder of the Oregon Territory became the Washington Territory.
