1788 - Allegheny County was created from portions of Westmoreland County, Washington County and Northumberland County.

1794 - Pittsburgh was incorporated as a borough in Allegheny County, and became the county seat of Allegheny County.

1816 - Pittsburgh was incorporated as a city.
