1819 - McMinn County was formed from a portion of Indian Lands in Tennessee, USA.

1839 - Polk County formed from portions of McMinn County and Bradley County.

1850-1860 - Monroe County received land from McMinn County.

1870 - Loudon County formed from portions of McMinn County, Blount County, Monroe County and Roane County.

1960-1985 - Monroe County and Loudon County both received land from McMinn County, creating McMinn County's present day boundries.
