1805 - The Michigan Territory was created in the United States of America.

1829 - Ingham county was formed from portions of Shiawassee County and Washtenaw County and unincorporated land.

1835 - Lansing was founded in Ingham County, Michigan Territory. Present day Lansing also extends into Eaton County and Clinton County.

1837 - On 26 January, Michigan became the 26th state in the United States of America.

1848 - The Town of Michigan was renamed Lansing, and the capital of the state of Michigan was moved from Detroit to Lansing.
