Notes:
1821 - Hines County was formed from unincorporated land in Mississippi, USA.

1823 - Copiah County was formed from portions of Hinds County and Franklin County, Yazoo County was formed from a portion of Hinds County, and Warren County received land from Hinds County.

1828 - Rankin County formed from a portion of Hinds County.

1829 - Madison County received land from Hinds County.

1840 - Hinds County and Madison County exchanged some land, creating Hinds County's present day boundries.
