Notes:
1763 - France ceded to Great Britian the area north of the Ohio River.

1783 - Great Britian ceded this same area to the United States of America in the Treaty of Paris after the American Revolution.

1787 - The Northwest Ordinance was organized, including the present day states of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and a portion of Minnesota.

1790 - Hamilton County was formed as one of the original counties in the Northwest Territory.

1791 - The city of Hamilton was founded in Hamilton County, Northwest Territory, USA.

1803 - On 1 March, Ohio became the 17th state in the United States of America. Butler County was formed from a portion of Hamilton County, and the city of Hamilton became the county seat of Butler County.
