1805 - The Michigan Territory was created in the United States of America.

1818 - Michilimackinac County was formed from a portion of Wayne County.

1826 - Grand Rapids was founded in Michilimackinac County, Michigan Territory.

1831 - Kent county was formed from a portion of Michilimackinac County and unincorporated land, and included the city of Grand Rapids, which became the county seat of Kent County.

1837 - On 26 January, Michigan became the 26th state in the United States of America.
