1795 - Franklin County was formed from portions of Mercer County, Shelby County and Woodford County, in Kentucky, USA. Frankfort is both the state capital of Kentucky and the county seat of Franklin County.
1799 - Gallatin County fromed from portions of Franklin County and Shelby County.
1819 - Owen County formed from portions of Franklin County, Gallatin County, Pendleton County and Scott County.
1820 - Franklin County received land from both Owen County and Shelby County.
1827 - Anderson County formed from portions of Franklin County, Mercer County and Washington County, and Franklin County received land from Henry County, creating Franklin County's present day boundries.
