Notes:
1803 - The United States purchased the Louisiana Territory from France, which included present day northeastern Colorado.

1848 - At the end of the Mexican-American War, the United States acquired northern Mexico, which included southern and western present day Colorado.

1861 - The Territory of Colorado was organized, and Lariner County was formed as an original county.

1864 - Fort Collins was first established as a military fort.

1876 - On 1 August, Colorado became the 38th state in the United States of America.
