1741 - Edgecombe County was formed from a portion of Bertie County, Province of North Carolina, UK.
1746 - Granville County formed from a portion of Edgecombe County.
1758 - Halifax County formed from a portion of Edgecombe County.
1776 - On 4 July, the Declaration of Independence of the 13 colonies as the United States of America, was adopted by the Second Continental Congress. In November, North Carolina created a state constitution.
