1777 - Washington County (NC) formed in the Washington District.
1778 - On 5 April, North Carolina was the 10th state to ratify the Articles of Confederation of the United States of America.
1783 - Davidson County (NC) was formed from Washington County (NC).
1787 - Sumner County (NC) formed from a portion of Davidson County.
1788 - Tennessee County (NC) formed from a portion of Davidson County.
1789 - On 21 November, North Carolina became the 12th state to ratify the Constitution of the United States of America.
1796 - On 1 June, Tennessee is the 16th state admitted to the United States of America.
1799 - Williamson County formed from a portion of Davidson County.
1803 - Rutherford County formed from a portion of Davidson County.
1856 - Cheatham County formed from portions of Davidson County, Dickson County, Montgomery County and Robertson County.
1860-1870 - Davidson County, Montgomery County and Williamson County all received land from Cheatham County.
1890-1900 - Davidson County received land from Williamson County, creating Davidson County's present day boundries.
