1797 - Jefferson County was formed from a portion of Washington County and included Cleveland.

1800 - Trumbull County was formed from portions of Jefferson County and Wyane County, and it included Cleveland.

1803 - On 1 March, Ohio became the 17th state in the United States of America.

1806 - Geauga County was formed from a portion of Trumbull County, and included Cleveland.

1808 - Cuyahoga County was formed from a portion of Geauga County, and included Cleveland.

1814 - Cleveland is incorporated as a city.
