1801 - Claiborne County was formed from portions of Grainger County and Hawkins County, in Tennessee, USA.

1806 - Campbell County formed from portions of Claiborne County and Anderson County.

1844 - Hancock County formed from portions of Claiborne County and Hawkins County.

1850 - Union County formed from portions of Claiborne County, Anderson County, Campbell County, Grainger County and Knox County.

1860-1870 - Claiborne County and Campbell boundry lines defined. Also, Union County received land from Claiborne County, creating Claiborne County's present day boundries.
