Notes:
1833 - Van Buren County was formed from portions of Jackson County and Lafayette County in Missouri, USA.

1834 - Johnson County formed from Van Buren County and Lafayette County.

1835 - Van Buren County received land from Jackson County.

1841 - Bates County received land from Van Buren County and Newton County.

1847 - Donaldson County formed from portions of Van Buren County, Jackson County, Johnson County and Lafayette County.

1849 - Van Buren County was renamed Cass County. Donaldson County became extinct and it's land was returned to Cass County, Jackson County, Johnson County and Lafayette County.

1851 - Vernon County formed from Cass County and Bates County.

1852 - Vernon County became extinct and it's land was returned to Cass County and Bates County.

1855 - Bates County received land from Cass County, creating Cass County's present day boundries.
