Notes:
1681 - On 28 February, Charles II of England granted a land charter to William Penn and named it the Pennsylvania Colony. Upland County established by the Dutch was now in Pennsylvania, and was renamed Chester County. The other two original counties in the Pennsylvania Colony were established: Bucks County and Philadelphia County.

1707 - England became part of the UK.

1752 - Northhampton County formed from portions of Bucks County and unorganized lands, creating Bucks County's present day boundries.

1776 - On 4 July, the Declaration of Independence of the 13 colonies as the United States of America, was adopted by the Second Continental Congress.

1778 - On 5 March, Pennsylvania was the 8th state to ratify the Articles of Confederation of the United States of America.

1787 - On 12 December, Pennsylvania became the 2nd state to ratify the Constitution of the United States of America.
