Notes:
1803 - The United States purchased the Louisiana Territory from France, which included present day Missouri.

1812 - After Louisiana became a state, the remaining territory of the Louisiana Purchase was renamed the Missouri Territory.

1816 - Howard County was formed from portions of St. Louis County and unincorporated territory in the Missouri Territory.

1817 - The town of Boonville was founded in Howard County, Missouri Territory, USA.

1818 - Cooper County was formed from a portion of Howard County, and Boonville became the county seat of Cooper County.

1821 - On 10 August, Missouri became the 24th state in the United States of America. The remainder of the Missouri Territory became an unorganized territory.
