Notes:
1632 - Lord Baltimore obtained a charter from Charles I of England for the Province of Maryland, England.

1634 - The first settlers arrived in Maryland.

1650 - Anne Arundel County was formed from a portion of St. Mary's County, Province of Maryland, England.

1654 - Anne Arundel County's name was changed to Providence County.

1658 - Providence County's name was changed back to Anne Arundel County.

1674 - Anne Arundel County was extended into an unincorporated area, north to the Pennsylvania Colony border.

1698 - Anne Arundel County and Baltimore County exchanged land.

1707 - On 1 May, England became a part of the UK.

1727 - Anne Arundel County received land from Baltimore County.

1776 - On 4 July, the Declaration of Independence of the 13 colonies as the United States of America, was adopted by the Second Continental Congress.

1781 - On 2 February, Maryland was the 13th state to ratify the Articles of Confederation of the United States of America.

1788 - On 28 April, Maryland ratified the Constitution and became the 7th state in the United States of America.

1824 - Calvert County received land from Anne Arundel County.

1851 - Howard County formed from a portion of Anne Arundel County, creating Anne Arundel County's present day boundries.
