      "In the name of God Amen. To all Christian people to whom these may appertain Greeting, know ye this to be the last Will and Testament of the Testor William McCrackin, who for divers good causes hereunto moving, has thought fitting to bequeath my Estate Rail and Personal according to this my last Will and Testament in the way and manner as followeth, viz. while she continueth

      "First I do give and bequeath to my loving and beloved Wife Sarah Mecrakin all the lands that I now posces [sp], Which I shall here call my homestead, which I formerly purchased of Isaac Osmon and Daniel Pursel containing in the whole about Four Hundred Eacors [sp], with all my movable Estate, as Cows Horses Sheep and Swine, and likewise my Household Furniture, Utencels [sp] for Husbentry [sp] & all other ampelments [sp] which may be called my own property Except what may hereafter be Expected. all which Real and Personal Estate shall be for the use and at the disposel [sp] of my Wife for and during her life or while she continueth to remain my Widow, at the expiration of said Time it is my Will that son Virgil Mecrakin shall then become whole and sole hair [sp] to the Four Hundred Eacors [sp] of land Land above mentioned, which shall thenceforth become his real property.

      "But if Virgil should die without issue, it is my Will that his land be sould [sp], and the money thence arising be equally delt among all my Children without exception.

      "I likewise will that when my Wife is no more, that all my movable Estate be equally divided among my Children to wit Isaac Mecrakin, Seneca Mercrakin, William Mercrakin, Jain Flint & Sarah Lancaster.

      "I next will to my Son Cyrus Mecrakin That Tract of Land in Maryland below the Divels ally [Devils Ally] branch lying on Portomoc [sp] River, it being a part of the Reservay [sp] on Hermit's Retreat. Next I give Hermit's Retrait [sp] to my Son Ovid mecrakin, with that part of the Reaservey [sp] thereunto belonging, from the said Divels ally brench [sp] extending from said Branch up Portomock [sp] River.

      "Next I will to my Son Seneca Mecrakin that Tract of Land that is commonly known by the name of Linnsford Bottom, or the Sugger Camp.

      "Next I bequeath to my Son William Mecrakin one Lot of Land on the South Side of Market Street in the Town of Bath  warm springs. I also will that when my Wife Sarah is no more, that my Son Ovid shall become hair [sp] to my Whisky [sp] Still. Vergil is to fall hair [sp] to his choise [sp] of Two Horses & Two Cows at the same time, but if he is not of age at that time, it is my desire that my Executor may let them out on Shears or Rent, as also my Plantation till Vergil is at least come to the years of Twenty.

      "Signed with my hand, and Sealed with my Seal this 4th day of August 1778, and acknowledged to be my hand and Seal before the witnesses present. My Son Ovid I make and Constitute Executor of this my last Will and Testament. - Will Mecrakin Seal

      "At a Court held for Hampshire County the 14th day of May 1782, This Last Will and Testament of William Mecrackin deced. was presented in Court by Ovid Mecrakin the Exector therein named, proved by the oaths of Jabez Osmun & John Gammage two of the witnesses thereto, and ordered to be Recorded, And on the motion of the said Executor who made oath according to Law. Certificate is granted him for obtaining a Probate thereof in due Form giving Security, Whereupon he together with William Jackson and Jabez Osmun his securities entered into and acknowledged Bond in the Penalty of Two Thousand Pounds for his due and faithful Administration of the said Decedent's Estate and performance of his Will. - Test And.
